Congress election
Ten valid nominations for ten different Congress seats were received during the nominations process. No seat received more than one nomination, so there were no contested seats. Therefore, Congress will not proceed to a ballot in 2024.
The new members of Congress will take up their positions with effect from the end of IChemE’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 11 June 2024.
Congress exists to bring the voice of the membership in its role as an advisory body to the Board of Trustees. It consists of two electoral colleges; one that represents members geographically worldwide (Geographic College) and one that reflects membership grades from Student to Fellow (Membership College). For more information on the volunteer group structure of IChemE, please view the Volunteer Groups Organisation Chart.
The term in office for all Congress members is three years, renewable to a maximum of six consecutive years, after which there shall be at least a two-year gap before a further term can be served.
