Entries are now open for the IChemE Global Awards 2026 — free to enter and open to entrants around the world. Widely recognised as the most prestigious awards in chemical, biochemical and process engineering, they shine a spotlight on the breakthrough ideas, achievements and talent shaping the future of this rapidly evolving sector.
The deadline to enter is 31 July 2026 and winners will be announced at the IChemE Global Awards Dinner on 10 December at the National Railway Museum in York, UK. This unique venue is home to iconic locomotives and an unrivalled collection of engineering brilliance. Booking for this event will open once the finalists have been announced later in the year.
Our category list has been updated for 2026 to reflect the key themes that shape the industry. These are Sustainable Systems; Energy; Food, Health and Wellbeing; Water and Sanitation; Learning, Development and Education; Responsible Consumption and Production; Digitalisation and Automation; Safety; Start-ups and SME’s; Innovation; Excellence in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; and Excellence in Knowledge Exchange and Research. What is chemical engineering?
Chemical, biochemical and process engineering is the application of science, mathematics and economics in the process of turning raw materials into everyday, and more specialist, products. Professional chemical engineers design, construct and manage process operations all over the world. Energy, pharmaceuticals, food and drink, synthetic fibres and clean drinking water are just some of the industry sectors and products where chemical engineering plays a central role.
IChemE
The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) advances chemical engineering's contribution for the benefit of society. We facilitate the development of chemical engineering professionals and provide connections to a powerful network of around 32,000 members in more than 100 countries.
We support our members in applying their expertise and experience to make an influential contribution to solving major global challenges, and are the only organisation permitted to award Chartered Chemical Engineer status and Professional Process Safety Engineer registration.
