16th June 2026
Entries are now open for the IChemE Australasia Awards 2026 and IChemE Malaysia Awards 2026, which celebrate excellence in chemical, biochemical and process engineering. Free to enter, the awards are open to participants from Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia. Widely recognised as leading industry awards, they showcase the ideas, innovations and achievements shaping the future of the sector.
The deadline for entries for the Australasia Awards is 31 July 2026. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, as part of a joint gala dinner with the Australian and New Zealand Federation of Chemical Engineers (ANZFChE) Awards of Excellence, held alongside the Chemeca and Hazards Australasia Conference.
Entries for the Malaysia Awards need to be submitted by 20 July 2026. Winners will be unveiled on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, at an awards cocktail reception held in conjunction with the 35th Symposium of Malaysian Chemical Engineers (SOMChE2026) and the Young Engineers Awards for Innovation and Sustainability at the Connexion Conference & Event Centre (Nexus), Bangsar South.
Award categories reflect the key themes that shape the industry, including Business Start-up, Digitalisation, AI and Automation, Energy, Excellence in Knowledge Exchange and Research, Health, Wellbeing and Food, Innovation, Process Safety, and Sustainable Systems.
Entries will be assessed by a panel of senior IChemE members and industry experts. Andrea Hosey, IChemE Fellow and Australasia Awards Head Judge, said:
“These awards provide an important opportunity to recognise and celebrate the outstanding technical and professional achievements of chemical engineers and organisations across Australia and New Zealand. This year’s categories reflect the breadth of challenges and impact of our profession. I encourage individuals, teams, and organisations to submit an entry and share the achievements that are making a difference. It’s a pleasure to lead the judging panel again – it’s always exciting to see the diversity and innovation of the submissions.”
Prof. Ir. Denny Ng Kok Sum, IChemE Fellow and Malaysia Awards Head Judge, added: “The IChemE Malaysia Awards provide a unique platform to showcase the impactful stories of chemical engineers who are shaping industries and communities. It is also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate success together with our professional network, strengthening connections and inspiring future innovation across the sector.”

What is chemical engineering?
Chemical, biochemical and process engineering is the application of science, mathematics and economics in the process of turning raw materials into everyday, and more specialist, products. Professional chemical engineers design, construct and manage process operations all over the world. Energy, pharmaceuticals, food and drink, synthetic fibres and clean drinking water are just some of the industry sectors and products where chemical engineering plays a central role.
IChemE
The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) advances chemical engineering's contribution for the benefit of society. We facilitate the development of chemical engineering professionals and provide connections to a powerful network of around 32,000 members in more than 100 countries.
We support our members in applying their expertise and experience to make an influential contribution to solving major global challenges, and are the only organisation permitted to award Chartered Chemical Engineer status and Professional Process Safety Engineer registration.
