IChemE and CATCH partner to boost engineering excellence in the Humber region

8th September 2025

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) is proud to announce a new strategic partnership with CATCH, the Humber-based training and development organisation supporting the process, energy, engineering and renewable industries.

This collaboration brings together IChemE’s global leadership in professional standards and technical excellence with CATCH’s regional expertise in workforce development. Together, we aim to strengthen technical excellence, support career progression, and enhance industrial capability across the Humber region and beyond.

Dr Rachel Bibby, Director of Member Experience celebrated the new partnership by saying:

“IChemE is proud to partner with CATCH to strengthen technical excellence, professional development, and workforce capability across the Humber region and beyond. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to driving innovation, raising standards, and supporting the next generation of chemical and process engineers. By working together, we will build on existing strengths, open new pathways to professional recognition, and help industry meet the challenges of a more sustainable future.”

Through joint initiatives, tailored support, and shared expertise, this partnership will help individuals and organisations based in the Hull & Humber region and beyond to unlock new opportunities for growth, recognition, and impact.

Rudi Gouws, IChemE’s Regional Engagement Manager for the North East, added:
“This partnership is a fantastic opportunity to connect IChemE’s professional pathways and recognition with CATCH’s hands-on training and industry insight. Together, we’re creating a stronger support system for engineers in the region—one that encourages growth, recognition, and readiness for the future of our sector.”

We will release further updates on upcoming events, programmes, and resources designed to support engineers at every stage of their professional journey.

What is chemical engineering?

Chemical, biochemical and process engineering is the application of science, mathematics and economics in the process of turning raw materials into everyday, and more specialist, products. Professional chemical engineers design, construct and manage process operations all over the world. Energy, pharmaceuticals, food and drink, synthetic fibres and clean drinking water are just some of the industry sectors and products where chemical engineering plays a central role.
