IChemE announces 2024 Global Awards finalists

11th September 2024

Finalists for the IChemE Global Awards 2024 have been announced, ahead of the Institution’s annual awards dinner in November.

More than 75 organisations from 16 countries are in the running, all demonstrating excellence in chemical, biochemical and process engineering. New categories this year include awards for biopharma, innovative process and renewable energy.  The best overall entry will be presented with the Outstanding Achievement in Chemical and Process Engineering Award

The 2024 programme also sees the launch of an afternoon networking event for finalists and sponsors, giving participants the opportunity to showcase their work and connect with other participants. The IChemE Global Awards are widely recognised as the world’s leading chemical engineering awards programme. The programme celebrates its 30th year in 2024.

Global Awards Head Judge, Jamie Cleaver says the quality and breadth of the entries on show demonstrate the impact of chemical engineering: “This is the 30th year that the IChemE Global Awards have been recognising and celebrating excellence in chemical engineering. The scale of the awards is impressive and truly global. We received nearly 300 entries from 24 countries, spread across 16 award categories. I am so grateful to all who took the time to submit an entry, and to those who encouraged them to do so. My deep gratitude and respect go out to the team of expert judges. Your passion, commitment and hard work is awesome. Finally, congratulations to the finalists! I look forward to celebrating excellence in chemical engineering with you at the awards ceremony in November.”

The IChemE Global Awards dinner takes place on 28 November in Manchester, UK and will likely be the largest UK gathering of chemical and process engineers this year. The Awards are sponsored by ExxonMobil, Bouygues, Sellafield Ltd, WSP, BakerHicks, Harbour Energy, PM Group, Arc, Johnson Matthey, ADI and Elsevier.

What is chemical engineering?

Chemical, biochemical and process engineering is the application of science, mathematics and economics in the process of turning raw materials into everyday, and more specialist, products. Professional chemical engineers design, construct and manage process operations all over the world. Energy, pharmaceuticals, food and drink, synthetic fibres and clean drinking water are just some of the industry sectors and products where chemical engineering plays a central role.

IChemE

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) advances chemical engineering's contribution for the benefit of society. We facilitate the development of chemical engineering professionals and provide connections to a powerful network of around 30,000 members in more than 100 countries.

We support our members in applying their expertise and experience to make an influential contribution to solving major global challenges, and are the only organisation permitted to award Chartered Chemical Engineer status and Professional Process Safety Engineer registration.
