Registrations open for Hydrogen Innovation and Technology Conference 2026

Hydrogen production, infrastructure, safety and end-use applications take centre stage at the Institution of Chemical Engineers' (IChemE) Hydrogen Innovation and Technology Conference, taking place in Manchester on 14–15 October 2026.

Organised by IChemE in partnership with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the conference brings together engineers, researchers, technology developers, policymakers and industry leaders to explore the latest innovations, technical developments and commercial opportunities across the hydrogen value chain.

The two-day programme features more than 50 expert speakers from industry, academia and government, sharing practical case studies, technical presentations and panel discussions covering the challenges and opportunities of scaling hydrogen technologies.

Plenary speakers include Jeremy Brutus, National Energy System Operator (NESO); Kay Champion, Environment Agency; Dr Rob Crane, ExxonMobil and AIChE Board Director; Dr Emma Guthrie, Hydrogen Energy Association; Professor Nilay Shah, Imperial College London; and John Wilson, National Gas.

Additional speakers include experts from Air Products, Johnson Matthey, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), National Gas, SGN and WSP, alongside leading academics and industry practitioners. The programme features real-world case studies exploring topics including scaling green hydrogen production, repurposing gas networks for hydrogen, hydrogen storage technologies, AI-enabled electrolysis, Power-to-X export hubs, low-carbon ammonia production and hydrogen’s role in decarbonising industry and transport. Delegates will also hear the latest research and practical insights into hydrogen safety, materials performance, leak detection and infrastructure development.
