Biography

Tanmoy’s educational journey started in India, where he completed bachelors and masters, both in chemical engineering. He then obtained a PhD in mechanical and process engineering from ETH Zurich. After completion, he worked as a research fellow briefly first at Stanford University and then at University College London.

With a long academic career, Tanmoy was involved in many highly innovative projects and mastered different state of art technologies, which could be applied in many practical applications to tackle current and future global challenges.

With this motivation, he moved to industry, and joined FT Technologies as a senior materials specialist, a Surrey based company that manufactures anemometers for detecting wind speeds, directions, temperatures etc. He was responsible for material development and characterisations, and validation testing of materials for the devices in different weather conditions and developing and implementing a product sustainable strategy framework within the organisation.

After five years, Tanmoy moved to his current position at Imerys Minerals Ltd. as a senior scientist for paints and coatings, leading a group of technicians and scientists.
