Billie Hiew Yan Zhang

Billie Hiew Yan Zhang is an Assistant Professor at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia. His research focuses on water and wastewater treatment, nanotechnology, adsorption, photocatalysis and sustainable materials. He actively engages in technological development and was recognised as the IChemE Global Award winner for Young Researcher in 2023.

He collaborates with industry on environmental and process design projects and has international teaching experience across diverse student cohorts. He is also involved in engineering education and professional development, serving as an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Coordinator and student club advisor, contributing to initiatives that support engagement within the chemical engineering community.
