Hugh Paterson
Hugh is a chemical engineer with three years’ experience in the renewable energy sector, focusing on green hydrogen in Scotland. A 2023 graduate with a Master’s in chemical engineering with energy engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Hugh combines theoretical understanding and industry knowledge to provide insights on the design of green hydrogen projects.
For his Master’s research, Hugh conducted a techno-economic analysis of various electrolyser technologies, enhancing his expertise in coding, plant economics, and the integration of renewable energy assets with hydrogen production processes. He regards these skills as essential for engineers aiming to advance innovation and efficiency in the renewable sector.
Hugh's first hand experience of both the impacts of climate change and Scotland's immense potential for renewable energy has fuelled his commitment to the renewable energy sector. He is devoted to developing practical energy solutions, contributing to the expansion of green hydrogen production.
