Year 12 Chemical Engineering Taster Day

5 August 2025, IChemE Rugby Office, UK

We are piloting a taster event on Tuesday 5 August 2025 at IChemE's Rugby Office.

Timings to be confirmed but likely to be between 10:00 and 16:00. The event is free to attend but young people must be able to make their own way to the venue. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

The taster day will provide an opportunity to speak with working chemical and process engineers in a number of roles, and representatives from local universities with chemical engineering courses. There will also be some activities.

Please note the following:

  • This event is for current year 12 students (starting year 13 in September 2025), within easy reach of Rugby (UK only).
  • The event will have limited availability, and we may not be able to offer a place to everyone who wants to attend.
  • We will give places as a priority to students who have completed the virtual work experience and/or Sprint: Process engineering in the energy sector, found at IChemE’s virtual work experience and Sprint.
  • Students will need to send a screenshot of their certificate(s) from IChemE’s virtual work experience and/or Sprint to discoverchemeng@icheme.org to show completion.
  • Parents and carers are welcome to drop their young person off at the venue, but will not be able to join the taster day.

Express your interest in attending. This does not guarantee a place. We will then confirm within around one working week if you have a place on the taster day.

If you are an IChemE member and want to get involved, please email the team at discoverchemeng@icheme.org.

This is a pilot event and we reserve the right to alter or cancel the programme, especially if numbers of participants are very low.
