Engineering a sustainable world
The world's ambition to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) needs chemical engineers. IChemE has set out a strategy that puts sustainable systems at the heart of chemical and process engineering. Read our summary: Engineering a sustainable world for teachers to find out more.
Below you will find a set of classroom posters showcasing the roles that chemical engineers play in achieving these goals and towards the bottom of the page you will find an animation that describes in more detail how chemical engineers are leading the practical application of new and emerging technologies.
Posters
Download three classroom posters which demonstrate how chemical engineers will play a vital role in addressing some of the key global challenges. The three posters are aimed at:
- 5 to 11 years old (Poster 1, I want to…)
- 11 to 14 years old (Poster 2, It’s time to…)
- 14 to 18 years old and Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) teachers (Poster 3, Chemical engineers will…)
The three posters carry the same message with a slightly different level of text depending on the age group, demonstrating why chemical engineers are instrumental in solving many of the fundamental issues facing the planet today.
Teachers who have signed up to the new DiscoverChemEng Educator Network will be able to request hard copies of the posters. For a presentation and teacher notes to use alongside the posters in your classroom, access these resources.
