Andrew Fellowship
The Institution of Chemical Engineers has established the Andrew Fellowship to commemorate the prestigious work of IChemE Fellow Professor Syd Andrew, a distinguished expert in the field of catalysis.
The Fellowship is a 12-month award to support early-career researchers to undertake independent, industrially relevant research in the field of heterogeneous catalysis. Up to two awards will be made each year. The awards will cover the Fellows’ salary costs and research-related expenses of up to £15,000.
Applicants are asked to submit their CV, a proposal, and supporting statements from the host research organisation and their industrial partner, and references, to demonstrate their potential for excellent independent research in this field. Fellows will be selected following interviews of shortlisted applicants.
Who can apply?
The Andrew Fellowship is for members of IChemE who are early-career researchers, having completed their doctoral degree within 18 months of the application deadline. The research proposed by applicants must aim to enhance the science of formulation of heterogeneous catalysts. The proposed research is expected to demonstrate independence, relative to the applicant’s doctoral research, with respect to the focus of the research and the research institution.
Fellows would carry out at their research while employed by a suitable university or research institute (the ‘host organisation’) and engaging significantly with an industrial partner. Letters of support from the proposed host organisation and industrial partner are expected to confirm the applicant’s excellent potential and the strength of the proposed work.
