Preparing for the new Competence and Commitment report
21st August 2026
New guidance and templates for the updated Competence and Commitment (C&C) report are now available ahead of its introduction in March 2027.
For Employer Partners supporting professional registration, the most important message is that the standards for Chartered Member remain unchanged. The revised report has been introduced to improve alignment with UK-SPEC, provide greater clarity for applicants and create a more transparent structure for presenting evidence. The knowledge, skills and professional standards expected of applicants have not changed.
Employers, mentors and applicants should begin familiarising themselves with the new structure and consider how existing evidence, development records and support processes will map across to the updated report. Existing experience remains valid and the professional review process is unchanged.
The Regional Engagement Team will be working closely with Employer Partners throughout the transition, providing presentations, guidance and practical support for organisations, mentors and registration candidates. Whether you are preparing engineers for registration through an Accredited Company Training Scheme (ACTS) or supporting individuals on an independent route, help is available. Now is a good time to start familiarising mentors, supervisors and registration candidates with the new structure.
