Support your apprentices and trainees: Work-based Learner Membership
18th February 2026
If you have staff undertaking an apprenticeship, technical or vocational qualification, or a structured training programme, they may be eligible to join IChemE as Work-based Learner Members.
This free membership grade gives early-career professionals access to a wide range of resources to support their development, including:
- discounted training, books, events and conferences
- mentor match, connecting them with experienced professionals
- member groups for local networking and engagement
- technical resources via the Knowledge Hub, journals, Knovel, and AccessEngineering
- The Chemical Engineer magazine and Loss Prevention Bulletin
- Sustainability Hub content and on-demand training
- opportunities to work towards EngTech and Chartered status
- access to IChemE Connect and participation in initiatives such as Young Engineers Awards for Innovation and Sustainability (YEAIS).
Encouraging your apprentices and trainees to join helps them engage with the profession early, build networks, and develop the knowledge and confidence that supports retention and progression within your organisation.
