Overview
Operated by Veolia, Seafield WwTW serves 650,000 people in Edinburgh, treating 300 million litres of wastewater every day. The site is fully self-sufficient via 3 CHP engines, producing 104% of its energy requirements, showcasing how circular economy principles and sustainability are critical to Veolias operation, and wastewater treatment as a whole.
The technical tour will dive into the chemical and biological wastewater treatment processes to show some of the lesser-known process engineering that goes into this crucial process, including:
- Thermal Hydrolysis
- Advanced Anaerobic digestion (AAD)
- Activated Sludge Process
All PPE will be provided by the site.
