Overview

You are invited to attend a Get Chartered event, hosted by the Ireland Member Group. We will be joined by Aaron Pennie, IChemE Regional Engagement Manager for Ireland, as well as Denis Ring, a Professional Reviewer for IChemE's Chartership process. The event will also be a great opportunity for networking across Irelands chemical engineering community.

Speakers

Dr Denis Ring, Fellow Member, IChemE

Denis is a chartered chemical engineer, active across both University and ACTS, accreditations for the Institution. He is on the Membership and Qualifications Committee (MQC) and a member of the Appeals Panel, responsible for assessing membership appeals and bringing as appropriate policy issues to the attention of MQC.

He is a representative for the IChemE at Engineering Council (UK) on their Quality Assurance Committee (QAC). The QAC is responsible for licensing professional engineering institutions where they are considered competent to assess candidates for professional registration, and evaluate academic courses and professional development programmes for accreditation, against UK-SPEC.

He is a founding member and inaugural chair of the All Ireland member group (AIMG) and active on this group since 2012.

In December 2024 Dennis retired from career as lecturer, Process Engineering at University College Cork. (UCC). He holds a certificate in applied chemistry and a diploma in chemical technology from the Munster Technological University (MTU), a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Strathclyde, a higher certificate and diploma in teaching and learning and a PhD in process and chemical engineering from UCC. He has extensive experience in teaching chemical engineering at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His research interests are in the area of particle technology specifically with respect to the secondary pharmaceutical manufacture, biopharma utilities (buffer prep), process design and optimisation and Industry 4.0.

Aaron Pennie, Regional Engagement Manager, IChemE

Aaron supports chemical engineers across Scotland, Ireland, and Europe through stakeholder engagement, network development, and professional events. With a background in account management, business operations, and photography, he brings diverse expertise in community building and strategic outreach. Passionate about professional development, he works closely with industry and academia to enhance IChemE’s impact and engagement.
