On 29 June 2022 the IChemE L&SE YMF collaborated with the IChemE L&SE Member’s group to successfully host the 2022 Summer Social Event.

The event was hosted at the Union Paddington located along the Grand Union Canal from 18:00 until 23:00 with drinks and nibbles provided to all attendees upon arrival.

This event was the first in-person social event to be hosted by the IChemE L&SE communities since the covid pandemic and the demand for members wanting to meet-up in person again was indicated by the event being successfully sold out.

As the event was hosted as a collaborative effort between the L&SE main group and the YMF it was advertised to members of both respective IChemE communities, this resulted in the event welcoming IChemE members with a diverse range of skills and backgrounds from both industry and academia. This event proved successful in creating networking opportunities between members of the respective communities who were able to share their valuable range of experiences with one another over a bite and a drink.

The success of the event was demonstrated not only by the great attendance but also the engagement the respective L&SE member groups have received from those who attended the event wanting to participate more actively in their IChemE communities and support the organisation of similar events such as this one in the future.

A big thank you too all of those who attended in addition to the members of the L&SE main group/L&SE YMF who were invaluable in ensuring this event was a success.
