On Saturday 8 October 2022 the IChemE L&SE YMF hosted a Brewery Tour at London’s Sambrook’s Brewery

The brewery is located in the historic Ram Quarter of London and Sambrook’s are not only London’s oldest independent brewery, they are also the last in a long line of successive brewers to occupy the famous Ram Brewery site stretching all the way back to 1533, making them the UK’s longest continuously brewing site!

Attendees were welcomed to the brewery at 17:30 and were able to chat with our extremely passionate and informative tour guide John Hatch prior to the tour beginning at 18:00. The heritage tour lasted one hour and started with a tutored tasting of a couple of historic styled ales before moving into the Heritage Centre where various exhibits were used to describe the complex history of the site and how beer has been brewed there for nearly five centuries.

The tour concluded with the attendees networking over a couple of drinks and nibbles at the Brewery before moving to a second pub to conclude the event.
