A discussion of the requirements and limitations of CCS in industry, including cement, iron and steel, and potentially chemicals. The talk will not be limited to "end of pipe" solutions, but will encompass new processes which include CCS in a more integrated and efficient manner.
This talk will be held on location and online.
Speaker
Paul Fennell, Professor of Clean Energy, Imperial College London
Paul has published more than 100 papers in the field of clean energy and the decarbonisation of cement, including papers in Energy and Environmental Science, Science, and Nature. His work was cited more than 20 times in the most recent IPCC assessment report, and has nearly 20,000 citations in the scientific literature.
He has conducted consultancy for the ETI, the EU Commission, the Catalyst Group, BEIS, DECC and many companies. Currently he is reviewing the possibilities for performance-based, rather than prescriptive, standards for cement and concrete materials, and quantifying the market size for different potential novel materials, again for IEAGHG. He is a fellow of IChemE and a previous recipient of the Ambassador prize.
