Cleo Parker
Cleo is a process engineer in her first year of BP’s graduate programme. She has a strong passion for aiding the energy transition to net zero by 2050 and is driven by making a difference.
Cleo completed her MEng Chemical Engineering degree at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 2023. As part of her studies, she completed a design project in recycling plastic waste into fuel and furthered her understanding of sustainability through research into methods to combat transport emissions at the university. Throughout her time at university, Cleo was an active member of the student community, representing her peers as a student representative, taking on responsibility as EWB Birmingham President and mentoring fellow students through PASSed schemes. In recognition of her contributions, she was given the honour of delivering the graduation speech for her cohort and was featured as part of the university’s rebranding campaign.
Outside of work, Cleo is a dedicated STEM ambassador, encouraging the next generation of engineers. She has previously acted as a Student Champion for Engineers Without Borders UK, presenting the principles of globally responsible engineering at various industry conferences as well as hosting outreach workshops in local schools. She hopes outreach will encourage a more diverse engineering workforce better able to design solutions to benefit people and planet.
