Jeffrey Smith
Jeffrey is a lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering at The University of the West Indies (UWI). He completed his BSc and MSc degrees in Chemical Engineering at The UWI and the University of Toronto, respectively and his PhD in Chemical Engineering at The UWI.
His current areas of teaching include chemical process principles, computer aided chemical engineering and chemical reaction engineering; he previously taught in the areas of separation processes, transport phenomena, chemical engineering thermodynamics, computer-aided engineering, particle technology and biochemical engineering at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
His research interests include polymer recycling and waste valorisation, both from a Caribbean perspective, as well as carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS). Within the Department of Chemical Engineering, he has chaired the staff-student liaison committee for many years and was instrumental in establishing the department’s safety committee.
Jeffrey is a registered engineer with the Board of Engineering Trinidad and Tobago (BOETT), a Fellow of The Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad and Tobago (APETT), a member of the Caribbean Academy of Sciences (CAS), and is a member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
