Marian Watson
Dr. Marian J. Watson is an Associate Professor at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT). Committed to building the Chemical Engineering profession, Dr. Watson serves on the Steering Committee for the Institution of Chemical Engineers Trinidad and Tobago Members Group and strives for effective Chemical Engineering education.
Dr. M. J. Watson holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of the West Indies where she explored the extraction of essential oils using supercritical carbon dioxide. After practicing in the petroleum refining sector at the Petroleum Company of Trinidad and Tobago (Petrotrin), she welcomed the opportunity to lecture in Separation Technologies, Petroleum Refining and Process Design at the UTT.
Passionate about bridging the gap between academia and the local chemical and process industry, Dr. Watson’s research interests include CO2 technology, process analysis and process design. A former Head of Department for the Process Engineering programmes, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies, and Senior Manager of the Student Registry at UTT, Dr. Watson has also developed expertise in the development, implementation and optimization of academic regulations and processes.
