Tyneside (UK)

About us

Every year, we organise a range of technical talks/events, plus social and networking events in Tyneside for IChemE members. We aim to provide activities complementary to those organised by the Teesside group to enable members to gain maximum benefit from both, given the short distances between the two regions. People from all areas are welcome at events.

Typically, the events planned will include four–five technical talks on a variety of topics, an AGM, a plant visit to a local site, the Annual Quiz, ‘Get Chartered’ and ‘Mentoring’ events, and two–three social events. Given the proximity to the Newcastle University chemical engineering student body, we will also organise joint events with the Chemeng Society, the university and other professional bodies.

We are always eager to welcome new members who wish to attend our events, as well as those who would like to join us on our committee. All are welcome.

Get involved

The Tyneside Member Group aim to provide networking opportunities for engineers in the area through technical talks and social events.

The group’s activities aim to provide for its members:

  • technical talks introducing technical areas of interest to all engineers that will not be provided in normal working day
  • social events providing the opportunity for you to meet, socialise with and network with other chemical and process engineers in your location
  • our early career activities provide many networking opportunities for engineers who, in many cases, are new to the industry and the area. They also give support and practical assistance to those seeking continual professional development opportunities and applying for chartered status as they begin their career in chemical engineering.
