Overview

The tour will take place at Henderson Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), which is licensed by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) to handle specific waste categories.

Waste is first assessed for compliance and categorised for physical or chemical treatment. Physical treatment involves filtration and activated carbon processes, while chemical treatment includes oil separation, chemical adjustments, and flocculation.

Oil is separated through gravitational methods and further processed before disposal. Sludge processing reduces water content via settling and centrifugation, with the resulting materials sent for final disposal. Overall, the plant employs a comprehensive approach to ensure effective treatment and environmental compliance.
