Computer Aided Process Engineering
Michael Francis Benjamin
Dr Michael Francis D Benjamin is a Chemical Engineer and a Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Santo Tomas (UST). He is also a resident researcher at the UST Research Center for the Natural and Applied Sciences (RCNAS) under the Mathematics and Theoretical Physics group. He was the former Coordinator of International Relations and Programs in the Faculty of Engineering. He is now the Assistant Manager of TOMASInno Center Technology Business Incubator. He attended the UKERC International Energy Summer School held at the University of Warwick, Warwickshire, United Kingdom, last July 2014. This program is specifically designed for those working on energy engineering focusing on low-carbon and resilient energy systems.
His main research interest is developing process systems engineering (PSE) methods for systematic risk analysis of integrated energy systems (i.e., bioenergy parks and integrated biorefineries). The methods he developed increase the sustainability of integrated systems through risk identification, subsequent mitigation, and improved resilience. PSE is an area under Chemical Engineering that deals with developing holistic and systematic methodologies for designing and operating an entire chemical supply chain (ie, from micro-systems to industrial complex levels).
