Overview

In the face of escalating climate change and the urgent need for sustainable solutions, the role of process system engineers has become increasingly pivotal in driving global efforts to decarbonise. Process system engineers can play a crucial role not only in developing groundbreaking technologies but also in advocating for and implementing policy frameworks that incentivize sustainable practices.

This talk will delve into the multifaceted responsibilities and transformative potential that process system engineers hold in reshaping industries, economies, and societies for a sustainable future. The talk will share experiences illustrating how process system engineers can contribute to designing solutions while simultaneously fostering collaboration to drive the adoption of clean and efficient technologies. By having a system engineering view, and understanding various constraints that may affect the implementation including economic feasibility, technological viability, and societal needs, process engineers can navigate the complex landscape of innovation to find optimal solutions aligning with the global imperative for carbon reduction. The presentation will also underscore the need for the intersection of technology, policy, and industry collaboration.
