Overview
The UK government has committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050. This means the UK needs to replace most of its current fossil-based energy production with renewables, accounting for the increased electricity demand which will appear as more and more petrol & diesel road vehicles are replaced with EVs. No matter what strategy is employed, to achieve this we will need to develop and build out a vast array of clean energy projects the length and breadth of the UK. It will be beneficial to us all if this goal can be achieved as quickly and efficiently as possible, and for this to happen, said projects will need to be run smoothly and efficiently, making sure that the needs and wants of the workforce and the affected local communities are catered for.
Having key stakeholders and workforce onside is a major win for any project and is often a critical yet understated reason why some projects are successful, and others are not. Furthermore, projects which have strong economics and a firm design basis can clearly fail if the delivery strategy and set up is not done well. This webinar aims to share experience of best practice delivering complex construction projects related to both clean energy and other process industries, with a focus on the practical aspects which are often overlooked.
Speaker
Sean McManus, Chartered Chemical Engineer, Brockwell Energy
Sean is a Chartered Chemical Engineer and currently acting as a Project Manager for Brockwell Energy, a developer of clean energy projects based in Edinburgh.
He is currently acting as Deputy Project Manager for the client for the Westfield Energy Recovery Project, a state of the art £220M Energy from Waste plant which is currently mid way through construction. He also acts as PM for a number of early-stage development projects in fields such as Carbon Capture.
Prior to joining Brockwell, Sean worked his way up the ranks of Plastic Energy, from R&D to leading the design and then construction of their first commercial scale waste plastic advanced recycling plant in the Netherlands.
