What is the aim of the prize?

The aim of this prize is to promote and recognise interest in food and drink processing amongst students taking courses in chemical engineering.

Who is it awarded to?

The prize is awarded to students who have done either a design or research project on a topic related to food and drink processing as part of their IChemE accredited course. 

How is the winner decided?

The assessors, made up of the SIG committee, will consider the novelty of the project, the relevance to food and drink processing, the quality of the work reported and the standard of reporting. With regard to the quality of the work the assessors will consider the nature of the project, such as bachelor's/master’s level, the number of students working together, the project duration and the percentage of the year’s credits associated with project.

What is the prize and how many are awarded?

Varying slightly each year, there are up to two prizes of up to £250 awarded each year, as determined by determined by the funds and sponsorship available. Prize money may be split if applications have equal merit or may be split between design and research focused projects. The prize is sponsored by Pentadel Project Management.

Of course the prize comes with the accolade of winning and will feature in our newsletter or website, all of which look great on your CV!
