Dr Hii is currently Associate Professor in the University of Nottingham, Malaysia Campus. He received his BEng (Hons) degree in chemical engineering in 1996 (UMIST), MSc degree in food processing and engineering in 2004 (UPM, Malaysia), and PhD degree in chemical engineering in 2010 (University of Nottingham Malaysia).

In August 2010, he joined the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering (UNM) as Assistant Professor and promoted to Associate Professor in 2013. Before joining the university, Dr Hii worked at the Cocoa Downstream Research Centre, as Senior Research Officer (Pilot Plant Section). Currently, he is Chair of the F&D SIG for Malaysia Chapter since August 2020.

Dr Hii is a Chartered Member of IChemE (MIChemE), Chartered Engineer of the Engineering Council UK (CEng), Professional Engineer of Board of Engineers Malaysia (PEng) and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy UK (FHEA).
