Gbemi Oluleye, Lecturer, Imperial College London

Gbemi is a Lecturer at the Grantham Institute, Imperial College London, they develop data-driven computational models to evaluate how market-based mechanisms can trigger economic tipping points for deep decarbonisation solutions, with a focus on heavy sectors. They have built an interdisciplinary expertise at the intersection of engineering, policy, economics, and finance which they apply to advance cost-effective industrial decarbonisation globally. Gbemi has been part of several technical working groups (Clean Energy Ministerial Industrial Deep Decarbonization Initiative (IDDI), Climate Bond Initiative , and Assessing Low Carbon Transition (ACT)) to advance deep decarbonisation of heavy sectors by leveraging this unique interdisciplinary perspective.

To further support the sustainable transition for industry, Gbemi leads the Executing Sustainability Strategies Executive Education Programme and the CPD on Green Leaders for a Sustainable Future. They received a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria; MSc in Advanced Chemical Process Design at the University of Manchester and; PhD in Process Integration from the University of Manchester, and has over 13 years combined experience in industry (design, manufacturing, and consulting), and academia.
