Working with eight UCL’s faculties, she developed a radical new academic vision for UCL East which breaks down the academic barriers between disciplines to help solve some of the most pressing challenges facing the world today and in the future. She leads on the Academic strategy for UCL in her Vice-President role.

Paola is Professor of Chemical Engineering at UCL. She is an international authority in fluidization and on life cycle assessments, analysing the long-term impact of products and processes – from the treatment of nuclear waste to disposable facemasks and the Royal British Legion’s yearly poppies. She was the recipient of two prestigious Research Fellowships of the Royal Academy of Engineering, she has authored over 250 papers and several book chapters. She is co-author of a book published by Springer on Fluidized bed reactors: processes and operating conditions. She is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
