Overview

Utilising an independent protection layer (IPL) is a key part of risk reduction strategies in all fields of automation. These protective systems act as a watchdog, a safeguard or a failsafe in the event of a fault within the operating system. These are often accredited as a risk mitigation or protection measure and a level in the overall risk reduction strategy. It is important to remember that the IPL does not remove a hazard, rather prevents or mitigates a risk. This webinar will explain what is meant by an independent protection layer.
