Richard leads the process engineering and process safety engineering disciplines supporting bp's gas assets in Mauritania and Senegal.

He's previously worked as a risk engineer in the specialty insurance business, as part of an underwriting team insuring mainly refining and petrochemical plants. He's also worked as a process engineer in oil and gas operational and project settings in the UK North Sea and offshore Angola.

His interests and experience particularly include safety critical operations management systems, HAZOP, LOPA and learning from process safety incidents.
