Paul is a fellow of the IChemE, an award that recognised his leading work in the water and wastewater engineering field. He has been involved in this field for a number of years including international experience of consulting and contracting in Asia and the Antipodes.

He has been involved with the IChemE Water Subject Group (now called Special Interest Group) since completing University in 1995 initially as newsletter assistant and subsequently as Editor and now Secretary.
