Stage 2: Initial Professional Development
ACTS route
If you are registered as a trainee on an accredited/approved company training scheme (ACTS) and have completed the scheme, you can benefit from a streamlined assessment at Stage 2. This reflects IChemE's prior assessment of the scheme against the respective requirements for Stage 2.

Application process
#1 Prepare your application
As a registered trainee on an ACTS, the IPD opportunities, support and guidance you receive from your employer have already been successfully reviewed. To complete Stage 2, we need confirmation from your employer that you have completed their training scheme. When you have completed the scheme, you should download a copy of the ACTS IPD Completion Form and have it signed by your mentor and the Scheme Manager.

#2 Submit your application
Chartered Member (CEng) - To submit an application, log in to the membership application portal and submit an application for 'IPD - ACTS Trainee CEng'. Here you will be able to upload a signed copy of ACTS IPD Completion Form.

Technician Member (EngTech) - Technician Member (EngTech) submissions can be submitted by emailing a signed copy of ACTS IPD Completion Form to the membership team.

#3 Administrative checks
Once we have received your signed scheme completion form, we will check that it has been completed correctly before confirming that you have successfully completed Stage 2. If you have also successfully completed your Stage 1 - Educational Base assessment, you can progress to Stage 3 - Professional Review.
