Process Safety, including major hazards management
Process safety competence
The Major Hazards Committee has been considering how best to develop, encourage and ensure all chemical engineers have the skills, knowledge and competence in process safety required in the modern world.
A working group looked at how these skills and competencies may develop over the full career of today’s chemical engineer, and developed a route map exemplifying this, along with recommendations for IChemE to consider how this may be used to benefit individuals, employers and wider society.
The report is an important piece of work, which will inform how the Institution and its membership ensure that process safety competencies remain high on the agenda as we move forward, including to support the energy transition.
