Simon Reid is a chemical process engineer at Aspiring Materials, a cleantech startup based in Christchurch, New Zealand. Simon’s work focuses on process simulation, life-cycle assessment, and applications of magnesium hydroxide for both industrial decarbonisation and carbon-dioxide removal.

Prior to working at Aspiring Materials, Simon completed his undergraduate and PhD degrees at the University of Canterbury. His research covered a broad variety of topics, including 3D-printed catalysts for aerospace applications, and numerical modelling of heat transfer within sugar maple trees.

Outside of work, Simon enjoys a range of outdoor hobbies including tramping, skiing, climbing and mountaineering.
