Dispute Resolution Committee

IChemE Safety Centre Charter

Major Hazards Committee

The Major Hazards Committee (MHC) is the volunteer body that leads major hazards strategy within IChemE. The MHC provides an environment where the agendas of the different IChemE major hazards groups involved can be communicated, coordinated and aligned to an overarching IChemE major hazards strategy.

Membership & Qualifications Committee

The Membership & Qualifications Committee (’MQC’) is responsible to the Board of Trustees (the ‘Board’) for the role of the Institution as a qualifying body. On behalf of the Board and in accordance with the Royal Charter, By-laws and Regulations, the MQC is responsible for; the establishment and maintenance of professional standards, in line with the Scheme of Delegation, the examination/assessment of candidates for membership/registration and subsequent approval/refusal of applications for admission to membership/registration. This includes accreditation activities, which represent (partial) exemption within the registration process, making recommendations regarding Regulations, the Code of Professional Conduct, classes of membership, membership requirements and agreements with third party registration bodies and providing assurance of compliance with IChemE and Regulator regulations and guidance to the Board and IChemE's Audit & Risk Committee.

Registration Subcommittee

The Registration Subcommittee (‘RSub’) is responsible to the Membership & Qualifications Committee (‘MQC’) for overseeing the admission of applicants to professionally qualified grades of membership, registration and Fellowship. It also has oversight of ensuring appropriate processes for registering suitable applicants with the Engineering Council, Science Council, Society for the Environment, Board of Professional Engineers Queensland, and Environment Agency in accordance with each regulator’s requirements.
