Overview

IChemE's National Early Careers Committee is hosting a webinar to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day. Female engineers will be invited to a discussion about their career, sharing experiences and top tips.

The session will involve Q&A from the audience to the panellists.

Speakers

Alexandra Meldrum, Vice President - Learned Society, IChemE

Alexandra Meldrum has twenty-five years relevant experience in government, industry, academia, the not-for-profit sector and a demonstrated commitment to IChemE and its members.

Heather Williams, Process Engineer, WSP

Heather is a process engineer at WSP. Since graduating from Imperial College London in 2015, she has been an active member of IChemE and is the founding member of the National Early Careers Committee. In 2017, she was asked to join the UK Board in order to developed and strengthen the committee.

Samrudhi Inamdar

Samrudhi has a Bachelor of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University, India, followed by Masters in Astronautics and Space Engineering from Cranfield University, UK. She is currently working as a Project Engineer at ALTEN, UK on a Rolls-Royce Aero Engine project have previously worked with Tata Communications Limited in India. Apart from her job, she volunteers with a few organizations.

She is serving as Vice President - Internal Relations at the European Young Engineers. She is also associated with Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) and UK Students for Exploration and Development of Space (UKSEDS). Apart from this, she is volunteering as a citizen scientist at NASA on the GLOBE program. The GLOBE Program is an initiative to research our global environment. In 2022, she was awarded the Bright Sparks award which recognizes 30 young and most talented engineers in the UK. She was also chosen as a delegate at the 67th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, which was held in the UK and hosted by UN Women, as well as an ambassador for the "Women of Future Programme" to mentor and assist young schoolgirls as they prepare for their future careers.

Her hobbies include painting and dancing and she holds a Diploma in the Indian Classical dance form of Bharatanatyam. Samrudhi is passionate to empower woman in every walk of life and would like to help and guide them in any way possible.
