PFAS in July: An introduction to PFAS

The Joint Chemical Engineering Committee (JCEC) NSW invites you a presentation from Dr Peter Nadebaum who will provide an introduction to PFAS: what are they, where and why they have been used and why they are now being phased out. Widely used in the process industries for many decades, and particularly in fire protection, PFAS now present a difficult problem for hazardous waste management and contaminated site clean-up. Peter will discuss how Chemical Engineering techniques are used to quantify the scope of the problem, to understand the nature of the response that is necessary, and in the selection and application of management strategies and treatment technologies.
