IChemE-AIChE hydrogen alliance

IChemE's hydrogen collaboration with AIChE

IChemE and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) - two professional societies dedicated to advancing the application of chemical engineering expertise internationally - are building a global alliance centred on the use of hydrogen. The partnership bolsters both societies’ shared interest in championing knowledge transfer, and supporting industry in the adoption of hydrogen as an energy carrier for the industrial and commercial applications that will form a vital part of the road to net zero.

First announced in May 2023 during the 2023 World Hydrogen Summit and Exhibition, IChemE and AIChE began their partnership by collaborating on a series of roadmapping activities to solicit contributions from knowledgeable stakeholders such as manufacturers, academic and research institutions, technology and engineering providers, government entities, transportation experts, and end-users of hydrogen. This discovery process was followed in March 2024 by the announcement of a joint webinar series to include contributions from both IChemE and AIChE.

In 2025, the organisations will debut a joint annual conference focusing on the production and use of hydrogen. The 2025 Hydrogen Technologies and Applications Conference will be held in North America, with the 2026 Conference being scheduled to take place in the UK.
