Energy and climate action
Resources
Taking climate action and supporting the move to net zero has become of overriding importance for chemical engineers in recent years. IChemE has developed many resources, guidance documents and toolkits relevant to energy and climate action. This section features a selection of the most important ones.
Challenges and opportunities of carbon capture and storage
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology is key for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. A task group was formed to identify the challenges and opportunities for chemical engineers in making the largescale deployment of CCS a commercial reality.
Changing Future of Oil and Gas
This project explored how chemical engineers working in these sectors will be impacted, and what networks, opportunities, new skills and support they will need to be involved in the transition.
Climate-related webinar recordings
A compendium of freely available climate-related webinars delivered by IChemE Special Interest and Member Groups. View the webinars on topics ranging from carbon capture and hydrogen to pollution abatement and water.
Energy and Resource Efficiency Good Practice Guide
The Energy and Resource Efficiency (ERE) Task Group was tasked to identify ways in which the Institution could help advise organisations in the energy sector on how to improve energy efficiencies.
Net Zero Policy Publications
The National Engineering Policy Centre (NEPC) programme of work explores, informs, and advises policymakers on some of the hardest cross-cutting challenges and opportunities. Policy reports and documents contain contributions from IChemE and its members.
